All-stars, Texas Wines, the Twist and backstage tours highlight this weekend’s list of things to do in the Pearland area:

sw-game26The Pearland Little League as the Southwest Region champion team take the field against the Mid-Atlantic Region champion in their quest to win the U.S. Championship game at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. on Saturday, August 29.  All eyes in Pearland will be on the 2:30 p.m. CST game at various spots around Pearland including Buffalo Wild Wings, BJ’s Restaurant & BrewhouseStadia Sports Grill, & Floyd’s Restaurant just to name a few!  The all-stars West team have captured the hearts of their hometown and Texas in general with their “13 as 1” team spirt and great sportsmanship!

Presented by Dionisio Winery, the event promises 10 Texas wineries, 10 food vendors and over 30 specialty vendors offering unique shopping opportunities. Enjoy live music in a great setting! “Let’s do the twist” from the infamous song by Chubby Checker who performs live with The Wildcats at Miller Outdoor Theatre on Friday, August 28 beginning at 8 p.m. Chubby Checker rose to fame in 1960 with an appearance on American Bandstand and impacted American culture with the craze that followed his hit song “The Twist”. Don’t miss a chance to see this American icon perform live!

Get to know the resident companies of the Houston Theater District through backstage tours, live performances, Q&As with performers, plus fun for kids of all ages at the 22nd Annual Theater District Open House on Sunday, August 30 from noon the 4 p.m. The FREE, annual event officially kicks off the 2015-2016 performing arts season. Arts-lovers can experience the major performing arts organization that call the Theater District home, including Da Camera of Houston, Broadway at the Hobby Center, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Symphony, Society for the Performing Arts, Theatre Under The Stars and Uniquely Houston.
