Thanksgiving Holiday Tradition comes to Pearland 

Registration has officially opened for the first annual Pearland Turkey Trot, and is set to be an instant hit. With a beautiful scenic route through the city of Pearland, inaugural finisher items, beautiful fall weather, and fun family activities, the Pearland Turkey Trot plans to be an event where memories are made.

“Pearland is growing faster than ever right now,” says Lauren Smith and Randi Schooley, founders of the Pearland Turkey Trot. “We are excited to showcase this beautiful city, support the strong running community, and bring people together on this very family festive occasion.”

“Turkey Trots have been part of the Thanksgiving Day tradition for over 150 years and we are thrilled to have Pearland, Texas join the fun!”

The race will take place on Thanksgiving morning (Thursday, November 24, 2016) at The Pearland Stadium (3775 S. Main, Pearland, TX 77581). The race will feature a 4-mile or 6-mile walk/run, 1-mile family walk, and a Tiny Tot Kids K (for children under the age of 12). Every registration comes with the inaugural Pearland Turkey Trot long-sleeve participant t-shirt, entry to the post-race party, and delicious post-race food & beverages. Kids K participants will receive a participation medal.

The 6-Mile Run will start at 7:30 a.m., with the 4-mile following it at 7:50 a.m.. The course time limit is three hours. The 1-Mile Family Walk will take off at 8:30 a.m.. Kids (and parents can join too!) will tackle the Kids K at 9:00 a.m.. The whole family is invited to the post-race Thanksgiving party where activities, food, and beverages will be served.

The 4-mile and 6-mile finishers will receive a Pearland Turkey Trot medal and will come with a timing chip. Awards will be given to the first place finisher in each 10-year age division for both the 4-mile and 6-mile run.

6-mile registration is $45, 4-mile is $35, Family 1-mile walk is $25, and the Tiny Tot Kids K is $15. Registration is currently available online atwww.raceroster.com. Prices will increase November 21st and on race day.

The Pearland Turkey Trot is also pleased to start their tradition of supporting their local Pearland charities and non-profits. The 2016 Turkey Trot charity will be announced late August.
