Winter Games Sanctioned by the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Return to Pearland

The Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) Winter Games of Texas return to Pearland for the second year on January 18-20, 2019. The 3-day event is a sports festival created for Texas amateur athletes of all ages and skill levels patterned after the Olympic Games.  Amateur athletes are invited to register for their preferred sport with over 15 different competitions ranging from archery to tennis.

Registration is officially open for the TAAF Winter Games of Texas online at www.TAAF.com.  Events will play out at various venues throughout Pearland thanks in large part to a partnership with the Pearland ISD.

Support by local sports organizations helped event organizers identify a variety of events including:  archery, adult and youth basketball, adult and youth football, golf, gymnastics, adult kickball, lacrosse, martial arts, pickleball, powerlifting, soccer, softball, swimming and tennis.

Advance to National Level

The Pearland event is the final opportunity to qualify for the 2019 State Games of America held in Lynchburg, Virginia.  Eligible medal winners from the Pearland event can compete on a national platform summer of 2019.

“We’re very proud to welcome athletes and coaches from across the state to Pearland for the second year of the TAAF Winter Games of Texas,” says Kim Sinistore, executive director of the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau.  “The Winter Games of Texas is a great opportunity to showcase our destination,” added Sinistore.
