PEARSCAPE & PEAR BLOSSOM SPONSOR FAQ'S

GUIDE FOR BUSINESSES, ORGANIZATIONS, AND INDIVIDUALS
SUPPORTING PUBLIC ART IN PEARLAND, TEXAS.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s the difference between a PearScape Trail installation and a Pear Blossom?

The PearScape Trail features large, 4-foot fiberglass pears on an elevated base and are located throughout the City of Pearland as part of a citywide art trail. This trail is included and promoted by Visit Pearland through items such as promotional materials and digital trail maps.

The Pear Blossom sculptures are smaller, 3-foot versions designed with a reduced footprint, lower price point, and for placement at businesses, organizations, or community spaces under a five-year sponsorship term.

How much does it cost to sponsor a sculpture?

PearScape Trail Sculpture: $9,500 (10-year sponsorship)

Pear Blossom Sculpture: $4,500 (5-year sponsorship)

Both sponsorships include artist engagement, fabrication, priming, sealing, installation, professional photography, and recognition.

Where does the money go?

The sponsorship fees pay for fabrication, artist fees, and installation. Any additional costs incurred or associated with the PearScape and Pear Blossom programs are funded by Visit Pearland through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) revenues, which are restricted to supporting tourism and the arts. No General Fund (property tax) dollars are used.

Can I choose my own artist or design?

Yes and No. Visit Pearland maintains an Approved Artist Roster which considers examples of their work and previous experience. Sponsors may select an artist from this roster or propose an artist for consideration. The proposed artist must then submit for approval and inclusion on the roster.

Artist and Sponsor will work together with the Visit Pearland Arts Administrator to develop the artwork. All designs must be reviewed and approved by the Visit Pearland Arts Administrator to ensure compliance with materials and content guidelines.

Can my pear reflect my business or organization?

Yes. Sponsors are encouraged to share their story, values, or community connection with the artist. While direct advertising or logos are not permitted, the artist may incorporate themes, colors, or imagery that represent your mission or brand in a creative way.

How long does the process take?

The full design and production process timeline is approximately 10 to 14 weeks:

  • Up to six weeks for concept development and sponsor review
  • Up to eight weeks for painting, sealing, and installation
This timeline ensures quality craftsmanship and allows for meaningful collaboration between the artist, sponsor, and the Visit Pearland Arts Administrator.

How is the location determined?

Each installation site must be reviewed and formally approved by Visit Pearland art staff prior to the start of production.

Pear Blossoms are often hosted at sponsor-owned sites, while PearScape Trail sculptures are placed in designated public areas.

How long will my sculpture remain on display?

PearScape Trail sculptures: 10 years

Pear Blossoms: 5 years

At the end of the term and at their choice, all sponsors may:

  • Renew their sponsorship for an additional term by paying the actual costs of restoring the artwork to its original condition.
  • Renew for an additional term for new artwork by paying the actual costs for services related to the redesign and repainting of the artwork.
  • Decline a renewal, in which case Visit Pearland shall retain, restore, recycle, or relocate the Artwork at the City’s sole discretion.

What recognition will I receive?

Sponsors receive:

  • Name or logo placement on a recognition plaque near the sculpture
  • Professional photography of the completed artwork

PearScape Trail installations also are included in Visit Pearland promotional materials, digital listings, and trail maps with credit to Visit Pearland / City of Pearland / PearScape Trail.
