The Voice Season 10 Finalist Mary Sarah headlines performance

Celebrating the Saturday night Texas Opry tradition, Pearland Opry on the Square debuts at the Pearland Town Center, 11200 Broadway Street on Saturday, September 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. featuring a great line-up of entertainers co-headlined by Mary Sarah of The Voice, Moses Rangel, and incomparable Brian Black, brother of Superstar Clint Black.

The free, family-friendly event dubbed Opry on the Square began in Sugar Land 6 years ago as a concert series designed to provide a showcase for the presentation of traditional country music and a forum for younger local talent.  This year the series is expanding to Pearland and Fulshear, Texas.

In recent years, the smaller Opry theaters have been closing down yet the love for the genre and traditional country music continues.  The desire to hear great live Texas country music in a family-friendly environment performed by a stellar band including a variety of performers has been a time honored format since the days of The Big Bopper, Elvis, Johnny Cash and Buddy Holly as they traveled the country with a killer house band and a variety of performers.

“The format follows The Grand Ole Opry’s multi performer platform, with sponsors and additional entertainment such as “clogging”, line dancing and special guest appearances.  We see kids with their parents and grandparents at our shows, it’s a great time for the whole family,” according to Todd Gross, co-creator of Opry on the Square.

Appreciative audiences who enjoy great music performed live in a family-friendly and open environment can two-step and line dance during the show and in the intermission. It is a two set format, with up to 6 different varied performers singing traditional country, Texas country and contemporary country songs in a 2-hour time frame.

“We’re very excited about our collaboration with Pearland Opry on the Square.  The opportunity to showcase talent and welcome visitors to enjoy the concert in Pearland  aligns with our mission,” according to Kim Sinistore, executive director of the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Pearland Opry on the Square will feature Mary Sarah of The Voice Season 10’s 5th place finalist, Moses Rangel, Nashville Star competitor from Rosenberg, TX, Freddie Pate, vocalist and former lead guitar player for Wayne Toups,  Missy Brown, amazing country music singer from NASA / Kemah area, Tori Vourganas, 2016 Rock Star Rodeo winner and fiddle player and Aly Miller, Pearland native and incredible vocalist plus other surprise appearances.
