The Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office within the Office of the Governor announced the City of Pearland has been designated by the Texas Music Office (TMO) as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community after completing the multi-step certification process. The Music Friendly Texas program, the first in the nation since introduced by TMO in 2016, seeks to foster music business-related economic development and job creation in Texas cities and communities.
“Congratulations to the City of Pearland on earning the Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation,” said Governor Greg Abbott. “With support from the Texas Music Office, the Texas music industry accounts for more than 196,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs and generates over $31 billion in annual economic activity statewide. Together, we will continue to work alongside communities in every region of our state to create good-paying jobs and boost economic growth.”
Pearland is now a Film Friendly Texas, Tourism Friendly Texas, and Music Friendly Texas Certified Community.
“We are excited to earn the Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation in our partnership with the Texas Music Office,” said City of Pearland Mayor Kevin Cole. “This designation will help amplify our local live music offerings and help showcase Pearland as a destination for visitors and residents alike.”
“I’ve always believed that music has a unique way of transforming a space,” said Visit Pearland Advisory Board Member Mary Roduta. “It brings people together, creates joy, and shapes moments that we remember long after the night ends. With Pearland now designated as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community, our city becomes a true conduit of cultural identity and energy by connecting local musicians with venues, enriching events, and elevating the experiences we share. Having access to great music doesn’t just enhance what we offer as a venue; it strengthens the connections we build in the community.”
“As a local venue owner, we have a strong sense of community and pride in providing local musicians the opportunity to show off their art and talent at our Taproom,” said Rob Ray’s Taproom owner Rob Bromley. “The Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation gives us an opportunity to raise awareness about our local music scene.”
The Music Friendly Texas Community Certification Ceremony, cohosted by the TMO and the City of Pearland, will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 1:15pm during the Pearland Grand Arts & Eats Festival, and will include city officials and community leaders. TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Gini Mascorro will present the designation.
