A celebration honoring Pearland Little League West is set for Saturday, Sept. 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Pearland Town Center Pavilion located at 11200 Broadway St..

A brief processional will begin at 11 a.m. on the south side of Macy’s Department store located in the Pearland Town Center and continue to the Town Center Pavilion where the ceremony will be held.

Pearland Little League West finished on a winning note as the team defeated Mexico 6-4 in the Little League World Series to claim third place. Pearland finished the summer run 18-2, including a 16-game winning streak. The team was trying to become the first team from Texas to advance to the Little League World Series championship game since Bellaire accomplished the feat in 2000, losing to Venezuela.

The last time a Texas team won the Little League World Series was in 1966 when Houston Westbury accomplished the feat. Pearland has been to the Little League World Series three times in the last six years.
