Pearland Golf Club at Country Place, located just east of Highway 288 off McHard Road, welcomes experienced general manager Israel Gonzalez to the team. The semi-private golf course in Pearland hit its stride with new hires to the core team in early 2016 after its successful multi-million dollar renovation by noted Texas golf course architect Jeffrey Blume.
With over 25 years PGA professional experience, Gonzalez, returned to the Houston area to assume the general manager and head golf pro position at Pearland Golf Club at Country Place in January.
A native of Huffman just outside Houston, Gonzalez has enjoyed success throughout his professional career managing notable golf courses including Walden on Lake Houston, Kingwood Country Club, Quail Valley, Blackhawk Trace Golf Club in Chicago in addition to owning his own course in Texarkana.
“The deciding factors for me to join the Pearland Golf Club were the potential for growth of this area coupled with the remarkable renovations of the course. I find players here really enjoy themselves and the atmosphere,” according to Gonzalez. “It’s very exciting that a round of golf on this course during the weekends only takes about 4 hours and 15 minutes to play,” added Gonzalez.
Rounding out the staff additions is Matt Schewe a PGA teaching professional and accomplished golf pro with over 25 years experience. Schewe has focused primarily on golf instruction for the public with many non-members flocking to the course after rave reviews by Golf Advisor.
In addition to a solid staff at the Pro Shop, players will find new greens, five tee boxes, new sand bunkers, smooth fairways on the 18-hole golf course, a driving range, a full service grill, and a meeting room for tournaments and events.
