Over 300 people enjoyed the celebration of the Grand Opening of the Pearland Golf Club at Country Place on Monday, October 26. Following speeches by Brazoria County Judge Matt Sebesta, State Representative Ed Thompson, and Pearland Mayor Tom Reid, Mayor Reid cut the ribbon with the assistance of the Pearland City Council and Chamber of Commerce and the 18-hole course was officially open for public play.
The celebration continued throughout the day with free food and beverages provided by Kroger Foods, BJs Restaurant, Faust Distributing, and Dionisio Winery. There were displays by many sponsors including Great Clips, Sports Authority, Costco, Smart Financial, Don Pico’s, Bankers Life and Walk on the Wild Side Pet Service. The putting contest was won by Oscar Flores. Fifty plus door prizes were awarded to lucky winners in addition to raffle winners, silent auction winners and musical treats every hour by vocalists Brian Holland, Kathy Hayden, Adrien La Bombarde and Merv Eliason.
The Pearland Golf Club, which has been closed for a multimillion dollar renovation in two phases in 2014 and 2015, has been redesigned under the direction of noted Texas golf course architect – Jeffrey Blume. New greens, five tee boxes, new sand bunkers, and smooth fairways provide the perfect degree of challenge for players of every caliber at Pearland Golf Club. In addition to the 18-hole golf course, enjoy the driving range, full service grill, Pro Shop and a meeting room to plan your tournament.
