Pearland is a perfect pick ….to stay, play, meet, and getaway and the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) wants to make sure everyone knows it. The newly created City department opened its doors Wednesday October 23rd 2013.
The event featured an official ceremony and ribbon cutting at 9 a.m., followed by an open house and tour of the 1,600 square foot facility.
“With 110,000 residents and substantial population growth that is expected to continue, the need for a strategic plan to market Pearland was evident,” said Bill Eisen, City Manager. The CVB is a department of the City of Pearland that aims to promote tourism and its positive economic benefits.
“We are positioning Pearland as a destination to stay in our hotels, dine in our restaurants and play in our region which will provide overall economic impact,” said Kim Sinistore, City of Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director.
Sinistore was recently hired to work with local hotels in bringing in business and develop a plan to market and promote Pearland for business and leisure travel. Tourism plays a significant role in the economic impact of Pearland. In 2011, tourism generated $100 million in visitor spending and $2.1 million in local tax revenues, which includes sales tax and occupancy tax for the city.
Along with the new facility, the CVB has a new brand – Pearland, A Perfect Pick which will position the city as a branded choice for travel in the Gulf Coast area with the launch of a new marketing campaign.
