City Manager, Mr. Bill Eisen announces that Kim Sinistore has been hired as Executive Director of the newly created City of Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau on March 25, 2013.
City Manager, Mr. Bill Eisen said, “The tourism industry is a vital part of the city’s economy. I am confident that Kim Sinistore will work with our hotels in bringing in business, developing our marketing and promoting our city for business and leisure travel.”
Kim comes to Pearland from New York State where she served as the Director of Tourism for the Westchester County Office of Tourism since 2007 and as Deputy Director of Tourism since the office was created in January 2001, assisting with all aspects of the tourism office and acting as liaison to the hotels and attractions. Previously, she was the Marketing Director for the Rye YMCA and a Supervisor for the City of White Plains Recreation & Parks and City of Peekskill Parks & Recreation.
Kim Sinistore said, “I am delighted for the opportunity to promote such a wonderful city. I look forward to building partnerships with the hotels and developing relationships with businesses to bring in travelers. In Westchester County, NY we were known as the Golden Apple and now I come to the land of Pears.”
Tourism plays a significant role in the economic impact of the City of Pearland, by bringing in $100 million in 2011 in visitor spending and $2.1 million in local tax revenues, which includes sales tax and occupancy tax. Tourism is one of Texas’s largest industry. In 2011, travelers spent $63.2 billion in the State of Texas and generated tax revenues of $7.9 billion.
She holds an MS degree from Iona College, New Rochelle, NY and a BA from the York College of PA. She is a member of SKAL international
