The Pearl Theater is a true staple for entertainment and arts appreciation in the Pearland-area, and they’ve officially announced their exciting and much-anticipated 2021-2022 season.
The first show, Daddy’s Dyin’ Who’s Got the Will?, set in Texas, is a heart-felt comedy focusing on a family gathered to await the imminent death of their patriarch. The story is not focused on death, however, but on the rebirth of the spirit and the power of family. The show runs August 27 through September 12.
Daddy’s Dyin’ was in technical rehearsals the week the theater closed due to the pandemic last year, and the group is excited to finally bring it to life. The remainder of the season features classic and family-friendly titles such as the tongue-in-cheek, Gothic telling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, youth productions of Robin Hood and Annie, Jr!, Tennessee Williams’ classic, A Streetcar Named Desire, and Detroit ‘67, which centers on siblings who clash over much more than the family business amid the riots of 1967.
“Each show in our season offers something familiar, yet they remain entertaining, heartfelt, and evocative for our theatregoers,” Renee van Nifterik, Executive Artistic Director of the Pearland Theatre Guild, said in a release.
Ticket prices range from $10-$18, depending on the production. You can learn more about this season’s shows, and purchase both season and individual tickets, on the theater’s website.
