Moonflower Farms, located on 5 acres near Pearland, provides pesticide-free, microgreens, lettuces, tomatoes, herbs, edible flowers and specialty crops to the local Houston community. The 20,000 square foot hydroponic greenhouse opened at the 3805 Fuqua Street location in 2019.
The local business partners with a network of local farmers to foster sustainable city farming by providing healthier, locally grown produce that makes communities stronger.
Partnering with some of the best local farms in the Houston area such as Gundermann Acres, Atkinson Farms and other local suppliers, Moonflower Farms sources fresh local produce to create their Farm Direct Produce Box Program. Box contents vary based on availability and seasonality. Inside the produce box, you’ll find fresh veggies for a family of four each week for $35 each box. Food safety is their top priority. To that end, boxes are packaged using gloves, masks and hair restraints then sealed for delivery.
According to Lydia Smith, VP business development for Moonflower Farms, “we started the program earlier this month with great response and great success. Pearland residents loved having this hydroponic farm in their backyards.”
The local farm works with restaurants, distributors and now directly to the public as they pivoted their business model with restaurant shut-downs during the Covid-19 situation.
Produce Boxes
Moonflower Farms offers produce boxes with their Farm Direct Produce Box Program. Each box is filled with pesticide-free, hydroponically grown lettuces, microgreens and herbs along with other produce items sourced from local farms in the Texas area.
- Visit moonflowerfarms.com to pre-purchase your weekly produce box by Wednesday at noon (a weekly deadline).
- Receive confirmation email and a reminder that the pick up days are Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the farm.
- Fridays and Saturdays pickup at the farm located at 3805 Fuqua Street, Houston, Texas 77047, enjoy curbside pick up, directly to your car. You do not have to exit your vehicle.
