ronnie-killenRonnie Killen of Killen’s Barbecue blazed a trail for barbecue lovers with the opening of his Pearland restaurant in early 2014. Killen’s Barbecue has beckoned ‘cue aficionados from around the state for its smoked meat offerings, delicious sides and tasty desserts since its inception as a weekend pop-up shop to a full blown brick-and-mortar location.  The 3614 Broadway Street location originally served as the Pearland ISD cafeteria and has now been reimagined into a destination for barbecue lovers.

Accolades from foodies and food critics alike have become the norm for this local Pearland spot. Most recently, this BBQ mecca received national coverage when Food Network’s “Top 5 Restaurants” series named Killen’s Barbecue as the No. 2 barbecue destination in the country for the show’s smoked brisket category.

Killen's BBQ in PearlandThe love is felt back home, too. Houston Chronicle’s Alison Cook revealed her annual Top 100 Restaurants during a swanky September 2014 event with Killen’s Barbecue debuting at the number three spot. Cook followed up in January 2015 awarding a rare 4-star rating to Killen’s Barbecue.

Killen’s Barbecue is also a regular on Texas Monthly BBQ Events, whether it’s a Road Trip spot or a participant during Texas Barbecue Week 2015.  Chef Ronnie Killen is also a pitmaster for teams competing at the highly coveted Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Cook-Off held annually in February.

Most days, you’ll find Pearland native Ronnie Killen behind the pit at his Pearland location or visiting with dining guests at the restaurant. Foodies flock to the restaurant on weekends to enjoy the camaraderie and shared passion for Texas barbecue. Folks in line are usually greeted by the friendly staff, free craft beer, and occasional live music under the pavilion on weekends.
