King’s Biergarten is lacing up its lederhosen for its fourth annual Oktoberfest celebration that will debut with a massive three-day extravaganza October 7th through 9th at the King’s location, 1329 Broadway Street. The Oktoberfest Kickoff Weekend 2016 will be packed with a huge Oktoberfest tent, amazing eats, delicious German “bier”, games, and additional entertainment for the whole family. The Kickoff Weekend will usher in King’s unique take on Oktoberfest, the 16-day festival held in Germany that has been part of Bavarian culture dating back to 1810.
“I am truly thrilled for what we have in store during Oktoberfest Kickoff Weekend this year,” said Philipp Sitter of King’s Biergarten, who serves as the official event host. He added, “With this being the fourth year of the festival, we have had a few successful runs under our belt but understand the opportunities available to take the Kickoff Weekend to the next level, and I think guests will agree in a few months’ time that we will have executed an outstanding event.”
The festivities during Oktoberfest Kickoff Weekend 2016 will debut with the time-honored keg tapping ceremony on Friday, October 7 at 7 p.m. with Friendswood Mayor Kevin Holland, Pearland Mayor Tom Reid, Texas Representative Ed Thompson, and Texas Senator Larry Taylor performing the honors. Once underway, the weekend blowout will feature food delicacies such as pretzels, many different sausages, sliders, and sauerkraut along with a new few additions for 2016. To wash down the food, guests can enjoy a stacked Oktoberfest bier lineup that includes notable German icons such as Spaten, Hofbrau, Paulaner, Warsteiner, and Steigl. Local Houston brewery Karbach will also be featured with its own version of an Oktoberfest bier.
On the entertainment side, visitors can participate in the Jousting Ring, test their might in the Bavarian Strongman Competition, Arm Wrestling Competitions, have some fun at the Oktoberfest Photo Booth, and watch the Texans take on the Vikings on Sunday, October 9th under the tent. Live music will be featured each day of the festival and showcase true German performing acts that will enliven the Oktoberfest atmosphere. Attendees to the Kickoff Weekend will each be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing, which consists of full accommodations for two to Oktoberfest 2017 in Munich, Germany. The drawing will help cap off the event on Sunday, October 9th at 7 p.m.
