Pearland business leaders, hospitality partners and community businesses joined the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau for the 2nd Annual Pearland Travel Rally picnic on Friday, May 6th at the Pearland Town Center.  The annual event concluded National Travel and Tourism week celebrating the impact of travel on the local economy and included an awards presentation for hospitality partners.

Mayor Tom Reid presented a proclamation declaring May 1 through 7, 2016 in Pearland as National Travel and Tourism Week.  Guests enjoyed an appearance by the Houston Rockets Road Jam and a catered lunch sponsored by The Ivy District.  Hasting Stewart, Public Affairs of the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee, provided guests with an update on Super Bowl LI to be held in Houston at NRG Stadium in 2017.  Other special guests included Pearland residents Vernon Turner, former professional football player, Sean Townsend, former Olympics team member and a representative for Ricky Davis, professional basketball player.
