The grand opening of the Delores Fenwick Nature Center is slated for Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 5750 Magnolia Parkway. The brand new $3 million Pearland nature center offers residents and visitors alike a place to learn and explore preservation, outdoor recreation and healthy living.
Free, family-friendly activities for the grand opening include a “Birds of Prey” demonstration presented by Wild Birds Unlimited, interactive nature and wildlife experiences and food trucks. Special presentations will kick-off the celebration at 9 a.m.
Located at the John Hargrove Environmental Complex, the nature center overlooks 1.7 miles of natural trails. Once inside, the facility includes interactive exhibits, a 720-gallon aquarium, a wetland diorama, live animals and several educational components. A colorful, three-wall mural completed by Galveston-based artist Gabriel Prusmack features images of native wildlife found around the center such as roseate spoonbills and green tree frogs.
