Good Morning America Spotlights Pearland for Main Street USA Series

Lights, camera, action! The city of Pearland recently welcomed Good Morning America crews, correspondents, and producers in support of the national morning show’s Main Street USA series and their July 5 spotlight on the Pearland community.

Representatives from the ABC Network contacted city staff in May to express their interest in highlighting Pearland, the only city in Texas selected for this summer series. Discussions led to the coordination of two shoot days within the city at locations selected by the Good Morning America team.

On June 25 a television crew visited five Pearland destinations including the Delores Fenwick Nature Center, Segura Western Wear, Killen’s Barbecue, and Vallensons’ Brewing Company where prominent figures at each of the locations were interviewed about their work and their passion for Pearland.

The pre-recorded segments aired during the Main Street USA portion of Good Morning America’s broadcast on the morning of July 5, with live reports from a remote unit stationed at Pearland Town Center.

The Pearland community came out in full force for the live taping, both local businesses and enthusiastic city residents. We’re very proud Pearland was selected as the only city in Texas for the July 1 week of the Main Street USA series. It was exciting to see so many residents and friends and family of the highlighted small businesses in attendance during the live taping,” said Tracy Rohrbacher, executive director of Visit Pearland. “I’m proud of our community and happy to be able to share our story on a national stage.”
