Visit Pearland Awards Over $30k in Cultural Arts Grants

Pearland Lunar New Year 2024 Hosted by the Pearland Chinese Association

Six local organizations are kicking off their new year with support from Visit Pearland’s annual Cultural Arts Grant.

The city of Pearland’s Cultural Arts Grant is funded through the hotel motel occupancy tax and requires each recipient to participate in marketing, promotion, and activities that increase tourism to Pearland during the city’s 2025 fiscal year. Visit Pearland, previously the Pearland Convention and Visitors Bureau, has managed the Cultural Arts Grant program since 2013.

Grantees for 2025 include DBJ Competitive Dance, the Global Organization for Divinity, the Pearland Community Band, the Pearland Chinese Association, the Pearland Theater Guild, and Silambam. The $31,700 total for this year’s program is distributed across each nonprofit based on their specific needs.

“We’ve seen really fantastic events come to life with support from our Cultural Arts program; Pearland Lunar New Year, the Puranava Indian Culture Festival, and productions from the Pearl Theater, just to name a few,” said Tracy Rohrbacher, executive director of Visit Pearland. “Our team looks forward to celebrating arts and culture here in Pearland with the presentation of these grants every year.”

In conjunction with the annual grant program and year-round marketing initiatives, Visit Pearland reached a new milestone in support of Pearland’s arts and culture community with the city’s first Cultural Arts Master Plan. Development began in the spring of 2023, the plan was recommended for adoption by city councilmembers in July of 2024, and implementation will begin in 2025.

“It’s an exciting time for art in Pearland,” said Rohrbacher. “We’re eager to see what the new year will bring.”
