The Astros will celebrate 2017 Opening Day on Monday, April 3 with the return of the Opening Day Street Fest, presented by Budweiser, featuring live music, food trucks, games, inflatables, photo booth stations, a vendor expo and access to the newly-renovated Center Field area and Saint Arnold Bar from 2:00 – 6:30 p.m. Additionally, Astros manager AJ Hinch, General Manager Jeff Luhnow, radio broadcaster Steve Sparks and Astros players will take part in live Q&A’s at the Opening Day Street Fest. Additionally, Budweiser is introducing a “Limited Time Offer” Budweiser Can to capture the spirit of Houston and the Astros. The can was designed in partnership with local artist and Astros fan Eddie Martinez to share his love of Houston and the Astros. These cans will be available at the Budweiser Tailgate Party at the Opening Day Street Fest, along with free sliders, free live silk screened posters replicating the art of the Astros Can and the artist on-site to sign each poster, while supplies last.

Following the street fest, fans are encouraged to head to their seats for the Opening Day pregame ceremonies, which begin at 6:30 p.m. In a special on-field ceremony, four-time All-Star Jose Altuve will receive Major League Baseball’s 2016 Rod Carew Award for being crowned the 2016 AL Batting Champion from Astros Owner and Chairman Jim Crane, as well as his 2016 Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger Award. The ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day will be a “passing of the Hall of Fame torch” from Class of 2015 Hall of Famer Craig Biggio to newly-inducted Class of 2017 Hall of Famer Jeff Bagwell. Biggio and Bagwell are the first players in franchise history to represent the Houston Astros in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Following the first pitch, members of the military, Astros Season Ticket Holders and five winners of an Astros social media contest will walk the American flag onto the field prior to Clay Walker’s rendition of the National Anthem. And to cap off the day’s pregame ceremonies, the United States Air Force will conduct a flyover of Minute Maid Park, weather permitting.
