Pearland Theatre Guild, The Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau, and H-E-B Present Old West Fest at Independence Park Memorial Day Weekend, May 29 and 30.

The Old West Fest is a mini-western festival, featuring old-fashioned melodrama performances of The Rustlers of Red Rock. The hilarious and family-friendly melodrama centers on lovely young rancher Blossom White whose ranch is suffering from a rash of rustling by the notorious bad man Black Bart Bushwacker. Fest goers will be able to cheer for the hero, sigh for the lovely heroine, and boo and toss popcorn at the evil villain in this lively interactive production. Performances are Saturday, May 29 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 30 at 3 p.m.

Other activities at the mini-fest are vendor booths featuring western styled arts and crafts, food trucks, a children’s panning for gold mining area, and live dance and music performances.

Our local first responders will have a special ‘Heroes Tent’ dedicated to thanking them for their service during this difficult past year organized by Pearland resident and Old West Fest committee member, Naomi Stevens. First Responders will be recognized each night.

“We are ready to bring back fun performances and activities for the community,” says Peter van Nifterik, co-founder of the Pearland Theatre Guild. This is the first year for the festival, but the producers are hopeful this will be a hit with everyone and hope to produce a western-themed festival each year.

Volunteers are needed to work the festival and may sign up at the website.
