Summer days heat up with so many options for things to do in the Pearland area. Pooches, food trucks, bridezillas and snow are on this weekend’s list of events in the area.
1. Visit the Houston World Series of Dog Shows event held at Houston’s NRG Center. Along with breed judging and obedience, you’ll discover agility dogs racing over obstacle courses, flyball teams hurdling to beat the clock, and four-footed athletes catching Frisbees and dancing to music. Then take in the Mari Jon Filla Student Art Exhibit and buy dog goodies galore at the McScotty Market. NRG Center is easily accessible from Pearland off Highway 288.

2. Enjoy food from around the nation at the 2015 Best Damn Food Truck Festival on July 18, 2015 from 4 to 9 p.m. at NRG Park. Enjoy more than 30 food trucks offering everything from smothered French fries to Asian-infused tacos. Live music and other activities are part of the fun. Ticket prices include unlimited samples from all 30 food trucks. Drinks are not included. $36 general admission in advance. Kids 5 and under are free.

3. Houston’s only two-day bridal event, The Bridal Extravaganza Show, returns to the George R. Brown Convention Center and features hundreds of bridal vendors and prizes. Activities include 10 formal fashion shows, major giveaways, plus a special guest appearance from Randy Fenoli, the star of TLC’s show “Say Yes to the Dress”. Doors open at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday, and close at 5 p.m. both days.

4. Enjoy Snow Day at the Zoo with Sunny 99.1 and TXU Energy Presenting Chill Out at the Houston Zoo! on Saturday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (or until the Texas heat melts it away). Kids can enjoy two snow fields, a smaller field for the younger tots and a larger one for the big kiddos. Giveaways and scavenger hunts are just part of the fun. The Houston Zoo is an easy drive from Pearland off Highway 288.
