Community leaders will host an event donned Reid, White and Blue: A Salute to Mayor Emeritus Tom Reid to benefit the arts in honor of the longest running Pearland Mayor, Tom Reid. After nearly four decades as an Elected Official in Pearland, Reid was sworn in as Mayor Emeritus in 2020 in the largest city of Brazoria County.

“Mayor Reid deserves an evening to celebrate the many years of service to our Pearland community. In addition, he is such a Champion for Arts and culture, we hope to raise funds to promote the Arts in Pearland in his honor,” shared current Mayor of Pearland, Kevin Cole.

Reid, having grown up in the Central Texas area known for farming and ranching, served in the Navy during World War II and later supervised projects for NASA during the Gemini era. He joined the Pearland City Council in 1973.

“Mayor Emeritus Reid has a long history of advocating for the Arts. The Reid, White and Blue event is an opportunity to salute him for his many contributions while raising funds for a cause that’s special to him,” said Tracy Rohrbacher, Executive Director of the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The event will take place on Friday, February 25, 2022, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a social. Individuals interested in attending may visit the event’s website for additional information.
