The Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce its annual report for the fiscal year 2020. This marks the completion of a year filled with industry-wide challenges and city-wide transformations.

From filling staffing vacancies with the promotion of Tracy Rohrbacher as Executive Director and the hiring of Teri Mazhar as Sales Manager, to the over 16,000 customer inquiry leads that strengthened relationships with the Pearland community and its visitors, the CVB is in great shape for the year ahead.

The 2020 fiscal year started strong with events like Pearland Arts & Crafts on the Pavillion, the United States Fastpitch Association 8u US Championship, and the TAAF Winter Games of Texas during the first and second quarters. As Q3 and Q4 approached alongside the Statewide Disaster Declaration for COVID-19, the CVB took action by pivoting marketing strategies, cancelling or rescheduling CVB sponsored events, and rolling out deferral payment programs of hotel occupancy tax remittances. Additionally the CVB created a Recovery Grant Program designed specifically to aid Pearland hotels during the pandemic.

As the CVB looks forward to 2021, the re-emergence of road trip and travel messaging points toward a strong recovery as the travel industry’s positive contributions to the local economy endure.
