Amateur athletes will return to Pearland for the TAAF Winter Games of Texas, January 18-20, 2020. Patterned after the Olympic Games, the 3-day sports festival was created for Texas amateur athletes, of all ages and skill levels, to compete on a statewide level. This is the third year for Pearland to host the games.
Sports categories this year include archery, basketball, flag football, gymnastics, karate, kickball, pickleball, powerlifting, soccer, softball and swimming. Athlete registration is open for several events. Events will take place at various venues in Pearland thanks to a partnership with the Pearland Independent School District.
The TAAF Winter Games of Texas is sanctioned by Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF). TAAF expects thousands of athletes and their families to visit this year. Pearland’s proximity to Houston attractions, easy access to Hobby Airport and major state highways, local amenities, and the mild climate attract TAAF organizers to the city.
Participants can take advantage of the best hotel rates in Pearland by booking online directly before January 11th at visitpearland.com/hotelsWGOT. A list of family-friendly restaurants, including international cuisine and ethnic specialties, shopping, and a calendar of events are available online.
Spectator admission fees apply to basketball, gymnastics, karate, powerlifting and swimming events. All other events are free admission for spectators. For general information, volunteer opportunities, and registration visit TAAF.com/wgot2020.
