Pearland welcomes athletes, coaches and families in town Thursday, August 9 through Saturday, August 12, 2018 for the 2018 Adidas John Turner Classic  volleyball tournament.

Renamed in 2017, the tournament is named after former Pearland head volleyball coach John Turner who retired from coaching in 2016.  Coach Turner had the vision to create the invitational tournament which quickly grew to become one of the biggest high school volleyball tournaments in the nation.

This year, 88 teams from across the state of Texas will compete in the tournament at various Pearland ISD locations as well as the Pearland Recreation Center.  The tournament has garnered a reputation as the pre-season Texas state volleyball tournament.

Pearland is a popular destination for sports tournaments with several local sports facilities, easy access to Houston attractions and more affordably priced hotel accommodations.  The Adidas John Turner Classic volleyball tournament has grown since its inception in 1997 with roots in Pearland.

Pearland has a welcoming spirit with plenty of things to do off the court including top-notch dining, local shopping spots plus a few hidden gems.
