Friendswood-based Bergamos Retreat finds serenity in a Pearland address after Hurricane Harvey halted their operation in late August.
Founded in 2001, the full-service spa built a client base from Houston and the surrounding area with guests coming from all parts in between Humble & Pearland. The 5,400 square-foot Bergamos Friendswood location was undergoing an expansion with anticipated 2-phase 2018 planned openings when nearly two feet of water deluged the structure during Hurricane Harvey.
Owner, Marylyn Reed with deep ties to Pearland quickly began forming a plan to regroup and focused her team’s energy into creating a temporary space owned by her father, Tom Alexander, at Pearland’s Park Plaza 3322 E. Walnut address.
Assembling furniture from storage and restocking shelves with new products, the 20-person team was able to open the doors and welcome guests to their temporary, Pearland address on Friday, September 8th.
“We were able to able to retain all of our staff, we’re very lucky. The temporary space has been well-received by our clients which says a lot about the quality of service we provide,’ according to Reed.
With 6 treatment rooms, guests can partake in all of the regular services except for body treatments.
Dubbed as #lifeafterHarvey on their Facebook page, Bergamos recognizes not all of the bells and whistles from their original spot carried over so they’re offering a $25 savings on most services. Additionally, every Wednesday through the end of October, individuals impacted by Harvey and first responders receive 50% off for massages.
Renovation and expansion will continue on the original Friendswood location which will feature 19,250 square feet with a second floor spa, yoga studio, wine bar, café, hair salon, wax studio, & himalayan salt cave with an expected May 2018 opening.
Meanwhile, Reeds says “I’m happy to be in Pearland. We’ve experienced so much goodwill in the community toward helping small businesses.”
