PearlandVolleyball-BPJ_2545-300x214Pearland is ready to welcome volleyball athletes, coaches, parents and friends for the 2016 Adidas Texas Volleyball Invitational set for Thursday, August 11 through Saturday, August 13.  Pearland ISD will host 88 teams from across the State of Texas to compete for the championship of the nation’s largest high school volleyball tournament.

Created 19 years ago by Pearland High School Head Coach, John Turner, the tournament has grown in size throughout the years and is recognized around the State for the caliber of players and talent assembled.  Turner retires this year as Pearland’s volleyball coach ending a 32-year career.  Turner selected Coach Christian Dunn to take his spot.  Dunn will serve as the varsity assistant before taking over during the 2017 season.

Athletes will play at campuses in and around Pearland including: Pearland High School, Turner High School, Pearland Jr. High South, Dawson High School, Berry Miller Jr. High, Friendswood High School, Alvin High School, Manvel High School and the Pearland Natatorium and Recreation Center.

Each year proceeds from the Texas Volleyball Invitational are geared to a non-profit.  This year, the tournament will raise funds for the Pearland ISD Education Foundation which helps facilitate student achievement and skill development and expands community involvement from individuals, businesses, and civic organizations.

Pearland is an ideal place to host sporting events with a great selection of sports facilities and campuses located within the city.  The 2016 Adidas Texas Volleyball invitational is one of the more prestigious events held in Pearland annually.
