Tony Booth Days in pearlandThe 11th Annual Tony Booth Day expands to a two-day celebration beginning Friday, May 4 and continuing Saturday, May 5 at Billy’s Hall, 4070 Wells Drive.  Booth along with a collection of country music artists bring a Texas dancehall vibe to Pearland during the annual event.

Featured singers from the Alvin Opry will perform on Friday night after last year’s successful reunion.  Entertainers include Tony Booth, Kim Lanier, Rhonda Walters, Missy Brown, Mike Moore, Shalane, Mary Dooley, Sylvia Riggs to name a few with music starting at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are available for $20 by calling 713-252-9773.

Saturday night’s line-up includes Tony Booth, Dottsy, Brian Collins, Randy Cornor, Lauretta Turner, Dottie Jack, Larry & Robin Booth, Landon Dodd, John Mark Davis, Jerry Lock, Dana Rowan starting at 8 p.m. Tickets prices are $40.

“Being able to host two days celebrating my achievements in country music is a great honor.  It also means a lot to me that the County Judge and Brazoria County Commissioners declared the first Saturday in May, Tony Booth Day in Brazoria County.  I want to thank all the fans that show up for this event, it’s not possible without the fans,” according to Booth.

Inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2014, Booth at 19 became familiar with the comment, “What they call country music today is not really country.” His style of music continues to be considered real country.  In 1973 Booth was nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music along with Conway Twitty, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Ray Price and Charley Rich.  The Tony Booth Band won Band of the Year from the Academy of Country Music 1970-1972.

Booth recorded 12 albums for United Artist, Capital, MGM and Heart of Texas.  Hit records include Keys in the Mailbox, Lonesome 7-7203, Cinderella, When a Man Loves a Woman, Carwash Blues, Old Faithful, Happy Hour, Secret Love.

Today, Booth performs 40-50 shows per year including gigs in Japan, Switzerland, Canada, Sweden and of course Texas. Tickets can be purchased in advance for Tony Booth Days by calling Lynn Brown at 713-252-9773, tickets will also be sold at the door.
