After her career as a kindergarten teacher and then assistant principal, Freddie Thompson decided to pursue her passion – photography.
She enrolled in courses at Alvin Community College (ACC) and then the Glassell Art Institute in Houston to hone her craft.
The ACC Fine Arts Gallery will host an exhibit of prints by Freddie, wife of District 29 State Rep. Ed Thompson, through July 31.
Her photography began to change after living in Austin during a legislative session. She was driving through downtown when she discovered the Front Steps homeless shelter. She began volunteering there, and after her shift, she would walk around downtown taking candid photos (street photography).
