A random, plane conversation during a business trip eventually led oil and gas executive Jeff Glattly to open a new storefront, Wild Birds Unlimited, in Pearland. Located at 2800 Broadway, the new 900 square-foot facility officially opens on Thursday, April 6 with a grand opening celebration planned for Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10 a.m.
Glattly laid off from his oil and gas position in March of 2016 quickly began to assess his next move when he recalled a conversation he had with a couple on a plane who talked about Wild Birds Unlimited training. A little field research about top franchises steered Glattly to open the 5th Houston area location for Wild Birds Unlimited in Pearland.
Designed to appeal to birdwatchers, the local shop carries the basic essentials for everything a backyard, bird lover will need including nesting boxes, pole systems for bird houses, bird baths, plus a variety of quality, bird seed. In addition, a selection of high-end binoculars will be offered at the store. Glattly plans to arrange and host upcoming, informal bird watcher meet-ups to take advantage of prime bird-watching in the area.
“Designated as a bird sanctuary city, Pearland was the perfect spot for my store because of its close proximity to Galveston/High Island plus the migration of so many bird species and activity located here within the Central Flyway zone,” says Jeff Glattly.
Visitors will find a variety of essentials at the storefront along with a very, enthusiastic and friendly staff including Thomas Glattly, sales associate/seed expert and Snickers, a 14-year labradoodle who quickly became the store mascot.
